Activities
* Music We have several tapes from Jim Gill, Disney and Preschool Rocks. We use
these as interactive play to dance and follow the rhythms and directions of the songs. We also have songs
we sing for each weekly themes.
* Art The children are supplied with many different materials to use
as free play or for monitored craft activities. We use paper, glue, crayons, stencils, paint, paintbrushes, chalk, washable
markers and more. We like to decorate our walls with our projects for all to see.
* Blocks We have
wood blocks and Lego's to use for creative play and building. The blocks are various sizes which allow the children to build
many kinds of structures. We have animal and people figurines for the children to use along with the blocks.
*Manipulative We have Lego's and four additional sets of connecting pieces.
These items are used for sorting games, alphabet games, math counters and construction sets. We also use play dough
with cutters and rolling pins. Puzzles are available for various ages.
*Dramatic Play We have kitchen areas with toy pots, pans and utensils. We have a table that
doubles for a tent or bear cave.
*Language We have a book center that allows the children opportunities to spend quiet
time looking at books. We have a scheduled reading time, but often read more than the scheduled times. We have
an additional set of books, that I use to read to the children. Books brought from home to be read are encouraged.
* Outdoor Play We go outside, weather permitting. We have tricycles, balls, hoops and jump
ropes for play. We do go on walks and go to the local park.
* Meals/Snacks Breakfast
and lunch follows the nutritional guidelines of Day Care Resources. Healthy snacks are served in the
morning and in the afternoon. We do celebrate birthdays, with special treats and celebrations.
